Picking a Taxidermist is no light task. You've worked hard for your trophy and you need someone to put just as much effort, if not more, into preserving your prize. We want to be as clear as possible to help reassure you that Grim Timber Taxidermy is worthy of your trust.
Fill out our intake form, send us a message on our contact page, or email us directly. We will go over everything from condition of your animal, desired pose or mount type, and quote accordingly.
You drop off your animal/hide along with the necessary deposit and we get to work! We'll start by skinning and fleshing your hide, if necessary, to get ready for tanning.
The type of mount dictates what happens next. Depending on what option you choose, your hide can be tanned internally or externally. If external, your hide is shipped out to our vetted tanning partners that operate on a commercial level and offer consistent quality. If internal, your hide is processed through one of our proven tanning methods. After tanning, your hide is ready to last for years!
After we have your hide back from tanning we begin the mounting process. The hide is put onto the form and meticulously put in place. Rough details are starting to be applied at this point. The claywork is complete, eyes are installed, and ears formed/lined.
The last part of the process is the finishing work. Lips are tucked, eyes perfected, hair brushed/blown, and horns or antlers installed. Once this step is complete, your mount is ready for pickup!
